Planters Exchange is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including customers who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, or other assistive technology. We have been a part of the St. Simons Island community since 1996, and we want our online store to welcome people the same way our shop on Market Street does.

Our standard

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines are the standard most commonly used to evaluate whether a website provides equal access, and they cover areas such as text alternatives for images, keyboard operability, color contrast, and clear page structure.

Accessibility is ongoing work rather than a one-time project. We review our site regularly and address issues as we find them or as they are reported to us.

What we have done

• Added descriptive alternative text to product and content images
• Reviewed color contrast for text, buttons, and links
• Checked that pages can be navigated using a keyboard alone
• Used clear headings and consistent page structure
• Given form fields visible labels and clear error messages
• Kept product descriptions and size information in readable text rather than images alone

Known limitations

Some parts of our site rely on third-party services, including payment processing, product reviews, shipping and returns tools, and embedded content. We do not control the code these services produce, and some of it may not fully meet the standard above. We raise accessibility issues with those providers when we encounter them, and we choose accessible alternatives where we can.

We are also continuing to improve older product pages, where some images may still lack full descriptions.

If something is not working for you

If you run into a barrier anywhere on this site, we want to hear about it. Tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using, and we will work to fix it.

Shopping with us another way

If any part of our website makes ordering difficult, please call us. We offer a personal shopping service during store hours and are glad to help with sizing, product details, special orders, or placing an order for you over the phone. No part of our store, online or on Market Street, should be out of reach.
